Even without Stephen Curry performing at his usual scoring level, the Golden State Warriors demonstrated their depth and discipline, overwhelming the Portland Trail Blazers, 119–97, in a National Basketball Association (NBA) regular-season game at the Chase Center in San Francisco on Tuesday, January 13.

Curry, the Warriors’ franchise player and widely regarded as the greatest shooter in NBA history, had a rare off night. The two-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) managed just seven points on 2-of-9 shooting, well below his typical output. His struggles were noticeable, given that Golden State’s offense often revolves around his scoring gravity and perimeter shooting.

Still, Curry contributed in other ways. He recorded a season-high 11 assists, repeatedly drawing defenders and setting up open shots for his teammates as the Warriors shifted to a more balanced offensive attack.

Golden State set the tone early, pushing the pace and capitalizing on Portland’s defensive lapses. De’Anthony Melton led the charge with aggressive drives and timely jump shots, finishing with a season-high 23 points. The Warriors built momentum through precise ball movement and transition baskets, steadily pulling away in the first half.

By halftime, Golden State had established control, fueled by defensive stops that converted into fast-break opportunities. Portland, missing key players, struggled to find rhythm and often settled for contested shots late in their possessions.

The Warriors widened the gap in the second half, knocking down open three-point shots and maintaining strong defensive pressure. As a team, Golden State made 23 three-pointers and dished out 34 assists, preventing the Trail Blazers from mounting any serious comeback.

While Curry’s off night drew attention, the performance highlighted Golden State’s ability to win through depth, teamwork, and execution. As the season progresses, the Warriors continue to build confidence in their supporting cast, while Portland looks to regroup and stabilize its rotation.
