"Anything for Candy"
By: Lorraine D. Villete
In the midst of our living in fear,
There comes that time of the year;
Strange goodness begins to appear,
Old ominous faces—they can be so dear.
A child that is willing to do anything for a candy—
Is like an adult willing to do anything to become somebody.
Promises to bring the nation out of this tragedy;
Lies a man with unfulfilling duties who is greedy.
All for the sake of that sweet “yes.”
He starves for power—features his very best.
Behind the hope inside the closet, he wears the mask of his vile wickedness;
He's willing to go any length to achieve the same level of power as the rest.
He bestows goodness upon everybody,
Why is it that once he wins, he stays hidden behind his industry?
Everything disappears after a certain achievement—all can be just temporary.
Where are those commitments he screams proudly? How can he scream ferociously?
Drunk on victory,
This can be the nation's agony.
He shows his horns—lies under his testimony;
A hero they thought, but he brings the nation's fury.
Few years after, we're still in the midst of our fears.
And here comes this time of the year;
The man who seeks our sweet “yes” appears.
Along with the new faces, unknown proposals yet seem to look so dear.
The desire to win lies within everybody,
As a child who is willing to do anything for a candy;
Will these people bring our nation's freedom from the tragedy?
Or is this another endless loop of insanity?
“It is never too late,” says the rest.
By voting wisely—it relieves our mistakes to achieve the best.
Let us not be naive—their intentions may not be the purest.
Let us give the people the hope they long for—a nation's reset.
Every child are willing to do anything for a sweet candy,
In that crowd is a mix of evil and good within their body;
Only those with the purest hearts can offer goodness for everybody.
A person who isn't thirsty for power, but into bringing the people out from the misery.
It is the person who deserves the sweetest of our “yes.”
For they show what is truly the meaning of the best.
