LITERARY: "Lumière" by Juliana Agbulos

The light of dawn bathed her like summer;

With eyes that never left the horizon.

She stood there in silence,

And tried to seek some courage.

In the labyrinth of alleys,

She was no stranger.

Despite the blatant antipathy that was thrown at her;

She still endured walking through the fire.

She mastered the art of disguise,

And kept everything under wraps.

Monsters silently created chaos in her soul,

And blinded her eyes with the fretful stream.

She wanted the balmy and halcyon days of April back,

And the verdant meadow that was once bestrewn with anthurium flamingos.

Until one day, she decided to plant her own garden.

She had learned to nurture her roses among the thorns.

And even when the sky dusked,

She knew that it would still unveil a glimpse of heavenliness.
