“In obedience to the will of the people, I now say sa mga kababayan ko, sundin ko ang gusto ninyo (to my countrymen, I will follow what you want) And today, I announce my retirement from politics,” Duterte says.
President Rodrigo Duterte is the one who is expected to run for VP given his past declarations and a major push from his separated party, PDP-Laban. Yet, the President now says he observes the "staggering opinion" of Filipinos that running for VP would "bypass" the law.
He is pertaining to the recent survey conducted by the Social Weather Stations that shows six out of 10 Filipinos believe that him running for vice president is unconstitutional.
