On the evening of October 31, an initial report stated that a fire started at the ground floor of a three-story building of the Provincial Health Office of Zamboanga del Sur in the city of Pagadian. The said ground floor of the building that was destroyed contained medicines intended for those in the priority list and pediatric vaccination.
The Office housed not only thousands of Covid vaccines including 9,176 doses of AstraZeneca; 14,400 doses of Moderna; 88,938 doses of Pfizer and 36, 164 doses of Sinovac. It was also occupied by different departments and offices of the provincial government that served as storage facilities for Covid-19 vaccines, allocated for 26 municipalities and 1 component city.
