The CoronaVac vaccine developed by Sinovac has been approved for pediatric use.
The Philippines' Food and Drug Administration has given the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine emergency use authorization (EUA) for children aged 6 and higher, providing additional vaccine option for minors.
Department of Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire confirms this in a text message to Rappler on Monday, March 14.
Health Secretary Francisco Duque indicates that only the operational details are needed before the vaccine can be rolled out.
To date, the government is using both Pfizer and Moderna to inoculate the pediatric population.
Furthermore, Paxlovid pill, the second oral drug approved in the Philippines for COVID-19 has been approved for emergency use by the FDA last week.
