On Wednesday, April 6, 2022, Malacaรฑang announces that the Philippines can now use a COVID-19 antigen test done by a healthcare professional as a requirement for travelers entering the country.
“The IATF on Wednesday night allowed the use of rapid antigen tests for entry requirements in the Philippines as long as they are administered and certified by a healthcare professional in a healthcare facility, laboratory, clinic, pharmacy, or other similar establishments from the country of origin of the traveler,” Andanar says.
Foreign tourists can enter the country under the existing IATF-EID Resolution 165 if they are completely vaccinated against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) and have sufficient proof of vaccination.
Foreigners must also present a negative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test within 48 hours or a negative laboratory-based antigen test within 24 hours of their arrival.
Foreigners visiting the Philippines without an entrance exemption document (EED) are permitted to do so as long as they meet the necessary visa requirements and immigration entry and exit formalities. Foreign visitors must have passports that are valid for at least six months at their arrival.
Foreigners who fail to comply with the IATF-criteria EID and requirements completely will be denied entry into the country and subject to the necessary exclusion processes.
