The state weather bureau reported that the tropical cyclone outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) worsened, thus the current spate of wet days in various regions of the nation may persist until next week.

On Friday afternoon, weather updates from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) indicated that the tropical storm known as "Malakas" could make landfall in PAR by Monday next week. Malakas, or “strong” in the English word, was last seen 2,215 kilometers east of Mindanao.

“Based on analysis, we are not discounting the possibility of the LPA becoming a storm. Also this morning the tropical storm we are monitoring the past few days had intensified into tropical storm,” weather specialist Raymond Ordinario said.

“We are seeing this will enter PAR either Monday or Tuesday. And we are continually monitoring this for the coming week because this may bring rains shower in Visayas and Mindanao in the coming days,” he added.

These regions would have cooler temperatures, such as Legazpi, which could reach 24 to 27 degrees Celsius, Tugegarao, which could reach 22 to 30 degrees, and Laoag, which could reach 25 to 30 degrees. The rest of Luzon, on the other hand, will have pleasant weather, with temperatures ranging from 25 to 31 degrees in Metro Manila and Palawan, and 28 to 23 degrees in Tagaytay.
