With less than an hour to vote and several reports of technical difficulties with Vote-Counting Machines (VCMs) around the country, different groups and individuals are calling for the voting session to be extended for at least two hours or until 9:00 pm today.

This is to allow registered voters to vote during the delay caused by the VCMs' failure. Some voters had to wait in large lineups at their polling places. Despite petitions from various groups to extend voting hours past 7pm, Commissioner George Erwin Garcia indicated in a press conference that the COMELEC en banc has not been granted any extension of voting hours. Long lines, defective voting machines, and other issues have been reported.

According to COMELEC guidelines, voters who have yet to vote but are within the 30-meters radius polling area at 7:00pm are still permitted to vote beyond the deadline.
