The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory (HVO) announced the eruption in Mokuaweoweo on the Hawaiian volcanic summit caldera on November 28 around 11:30 p.m. HST.

The USGS, or United States Geological Survey, conducted an overflight on November 30th, which revealed that the lava fountains were 20-25 meters (65–82 feet) high and moving at 130 meters per hour toward the northeast rift zone. The lava river is now nearly 10 miles long from the summit caldera.

In addition, in the year 1984, the world’s largest and most active volcano, Mauna Loa, erupted for the last time, and it lasted 21 days.
