Recently, in October, with an innovative accomplishment for Filipinos, the single "ERE" by Juan Karlos Labajo from his current album became the first Original Pilipino Music (OPM) track ever to receive more than one million streams in a single day, making it the first Filipino song to appear on music streaming platform Spotify's global chart.
According to Music-dedicated website Chart Data, "ERE" debuted at No. 177 on the global Spotify list with 1.22 million streams, marking the first time a Filipino song has entered on the chart.
Juan Karlos disclosed the origin of his latest album were written for a past special person, “This album originally started out as a compilation of all the love songs that I made for someone whom I gave so much of myself to. a collection of all the words I wrote and the melodies that came along with it. Eventually, things didn’t turn out the way I hoped for. The songs started to not make any sense. All the songs for love turned into songs for sadness. For me at least.”
“Thank you to everyone who became a part of this crazy adventure. I am forever grateful,” he added.
After only two days on the streaming platform, the song reached the 87th rank with 1.45 million streams.
Juan Karlos Labajo has yet to explicitly comment on his song's recent triumphs; however, he did republish posts from his Instagram Stories Chart Data confirming the recent milestones of "ERE."
Followers and listeners alike were enthusiastic about the track's performance, with one fan saying, “Another gem to the OPM industry. Please listen to Juan Karlos’ songs as well! Such a good artist. His new song, ERE has been stuck in my head for a few days now,”
“Proof that you can be good at your craft and do what you love without losing your identity way to go,” another listener entailed from X.
“I contributed 1,000 plays, obsessed with this song. It’s so friggin’ good! Congratulations,” another statement by one of his listeners from X.
"ERE" was publicly released on the music streaming platform on August 4, 2023, about 50 days before the full version of his most recent album was published on Spotify. A four-minute and 44 seconds song of everything we love about Juan Karlos, with lyrics about a guy who felt betrayed and vocals that bring forth that agony and sorrow.
