Coming from a familiar history of creative credibility derived from a synthesis of classic city pop and jazz-influenced synth pop, SHANNi makes her entrance as a song artist with her latest single that highlights compromising years of experience. Acclaiming from Manila, embrace yourselves as she makes her mark with the appealing track, “sa panaginip.”
“I called it ‘Sa Panaginip,’ because it shows that memories and emotions aren’t easy to forget,” SHANNi said, “It’s all the more difficult to erase when the experience contributes significantly to your journey as a person. You won’t be able to escape the truth, even in your dreams,” she added.
SHANNi is a singer-songwriter based in Manila whose music is usually classified as a combination of classic city pop, jazz-influenced synth-pop, and funk. She made her official debut as a recording artist, and her track adheres to mellifluousness.
She revealed that the story behind “Sa Panaginip” was inspired by the 2004 film “The Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” a film about love’s unavoidable flaws and the difficulties of letting go of the memories. She started to write this single back when she was in Grade 10, after watching the movie.
“Sa Panaginip” was entirely written by SHANNi, who worked as one of its producers, while Sam Marquez from One Click Straight mixed and mastered the song, with Blaster Silonga adding background vocals.
Shanty “SHANNi” Silonga originates from a musical and talented family; she is the younger sister of Blaster Silonga from IV of Spades but currently a soloist with the Celestial Klowns, the daughter of Allan Mitchell “Daddy A” Silonga (K24/7 and Daddy’s Home), and the niece of Shar Santos from Smokey Mountain. Moreover, her siblings Dave and Leyna Silonga are also part of her band as bassist and guitarist.
