Humanities and Social Science (HUMSS) conquered two Badminton categories, Women's single and Mixed Doubles finals, against Home Economics (HE) and Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM); while Information, Communication, and Technology (ICT) prevailed over Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in the Men's Single Badminton Finals at DVA Gymnasium, on October 18.

During the women's single finals, Alyssa Nicole E. Arcilla of HUMSS displayed consistent services and smashes versus Marian Reyes Bechachino of Home Economics (HE) to maintain her momentum throughout the whole game.

In the opening set, Arcilla showed successful lobs and smashes that resulted in a HUMSS's dominated set, 21-9.

After an overwhelming 1st set, Arcilla took advantage of Bechachino's errors and executed net kills that led to an enormous lead by HUMSS in the 2nd set, 21-5 that ended the game.

"Nandito po kasi 'yung best cheerer ko e, tsaka nanonood po kasi 'yung coach ko and last year po hindi nanalo kaya bumawi po talaga ako," Arcilla said during an interview with The Spiracle after winning the championship.

Arcilla got her motivation to win the competition from her friends and especially from her coach, that resulted in a well-deserved victory.

After HUMSS victory in the women's single divsion, HUMSS once again seized the championship in Badminton Mixed Doubles category, Jay em Manipol and Marina Canceran from HUMSS buried Faustino Cariaga and Jam Barcelon from ABM in debt, 2-0.

HUMSS took the weakspot of ABM for granted and seized victory, where they converted most of their points by targeting Barcelon with their explosive smashes, deadly drops and lobs.

"Diskarte at teamwork," Manipol and Canceran stated during the interview after the match, where the duo shared that their strategy and teamwork was the key that led to their victory.

After an intense exchange of shuttles from the previous games, Simon Paulo Caรฑota from ICT ruled the court against Marino Peralta of STEM in the Men's Single Badminton Finals.

In the opening set, Caรฑota adjusted his game early on and excecuted powerful smashes that overwhelmed Peralta, where multiple errors resulted from Peralta's slow start, that helped Caรฑota to maintain the huge lead until the end of the 1st set, 21-10.

During the 2nd set, Caรฑota and Peralta were in their best condition, as Peralta got into his senses and started the 2nd set pretty well and even gained a 6-point lead.

However, Caรฑota remained composed and with his never say die attitude, where he narrowed down the lead and forced the game to deuce, Caรฑota ended the set, 22-20.

"Trip-trip lang yon, pinakaba ko lang si coach," Caรฑota sarcastically said during the interview after the match.

He jokingly stated that the reason why Peralta got that close to winning the 2nd set was because he wanted to make his coach nervous about his performance.

Caรฑota is currently in 11th grade and has participated in the competition for the first time, where he bagged the championship.
