Tropical storm Kong-rey, locally known as Leon, entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) at 7:30 pm yesterday, October 26, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

As per PAGASA's updates issued at 11 pm yesterday, Leon is said to be moving west at 25 kilometers per hour and was located at 1,355 kilometers east of Central Luzon.

The tropical storm is now moving steadily west over the Philippine Sea and is likely to bring rains and strong winds to parts of Luzon this evening.

It may also continue to affect the southwesterly wind flow that was initially triggered by the destructive Severe Tropical Storm Trami, locally known as Kristine.

The storm could intensify into a severe tropical storm this evening, October 27, or Monday morning, afterwards becoming a typhoon on Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

Leon is also the second tropical cyclone during October, entering PAR only a day after the exit of Kristine.
