In the blazing display of footwork and rhythmic showdown, the combined forces of General Academic Strand and Industrial Arts (GAS-IA) breakers erupted as they were crowned champions of the Hip-hop Competition of Lyceum of Alabang's 21st Foundation Anniversary on Wednesday, November 13, at the Danilo V. Ayap Gymnasium.
In an interview with Jhamel Maitem, a member of the GAS-IA Hip-hop crew, she mentioned that their path to success has never been easy as they faced several conflicts with regards to their pursuit for the crown and academic lives.
"Ta's sabay-sabay 'yung mga gawain [na] kailangan tapusin. So pinagsasabay namin 'yung pinapagawang activities and at the same time nag-pa-practice kami," Maitem mentioned.
Mary Shiloh SaΓ±o, another member of the hip-hop crew, also expressed her appreciation for the people who helped and believed them from the very start, before they were held as kings and queens of the dance floor.
"Thank you so much sa lahat ng mga nag-support sa amin kahit na maraming mga basher[s], hindi kayo tumigil na suportahan kami," SaΓ±o mentioned.
With their explosive performance, breakers from GAS-IA amassed the favor of judges, proving how other strands couldn't keep with their moves.
Meanwhile, the Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand then followed to secure 2nd place, while the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand grabbed 3rd place.
