Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand rose to prominence and claimed the podium as the overall champion during Lyceum of Alabang’s 21st Foundation Anniversary, which concluded with an awarding ceremony on Wednesday, November 13, at the Danilo V. Ayap (DVA) Gymnasium.
"It is a great sense of pride and accomplishment, not only for me but for everyone who dedicated themselves to this success," said Pearl Anne Metica, President of the HUMSS organization Makatao Club, "I witnessed the tireless efforts of everyone involved—HUMSS teachers, Makatao Club officers, representatives, and all HUMSS students—who consistently supported one another."
On the other hand, the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand secured 1st runner-up in the overall ranking, while the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand placed 2nd runner-up.
Metica also stated that being named "overall champion" symbolizes the teamwork, dedication, and relationships within the HUMSS strand, serving as a lasting inspiration for future 'Humanistas' to continue their legacy of success.
During the foundation week, various cultural and non-cultural activities, including academic and spirts competitions, were organized and supported by students, as well as faculty members, from each department.
TUNES OF CULTURAL
In the grand exhibit of spectacular outfits, bright advocacy, and well-versed answers for Mr. and Ms. Lyceum of Alabang 2024, the representative from the HE strand was crowned Mr. LOA, while the representative from the STEM strand claimed the highly-contested title of Ms. LOA. This highly anticipated event also spotlighted Mr. and Ms. HUMSS, who were awarded first place, and Mr. and Ms. ABM, who secured second place.
Despite the pressure and excitement, the yells and chants of ABM reverberated the loudest, earning them the much-anticipated championship in the Bench Cheering Competition. Although they came up short, the voices of HUMSS and STEM also made an impact, allowing them to take the silver and bronze medals respectively.
From Cha-cha to Waltz, dancers from ABM proved their finesse in various dance styles, showcasing their lightness on their feet as they were declared overall champions in the Dance Sports Contest. Dancers from ICT also demonstrated impressive footwork, earning them first place, while STEM claimed second place.
Meanwhile, during the dance break, the crew from GAS-IA delivered a funky performance to claim the championship in the Hip-hop Competition. B-boys and b-girls from the HUMSS and ABM strands also showed their impressive skills, securing first and second place respectively.
In the fierce competition of melody and harmony, singers from GAS-IA showcased their dominance in the Group Singing Contest, earning the top spot. However, the clash did not end with only one victor, as HE claimed first place and HUMSS took second place.
THRILL OF THRONES
The Reds overpowered their opponents as the Home Economics strand seized their third consecutive gold in the basketball championship, toppling the General Academic Strand-Industrial Arts (GAS-IA) to secure victory in the final showdown. Meanwhile, the HUMSS strand fought valiantly to claim the second runner-up position.
The chess tournaments saw the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) strand reigning supreme in the Men’s division, making precise moves to outplay the STEM strand, who finished as first runner-up. Meanwhile, the HUMSS strand claimed the second runner-up spot.
In the women’s division, Home Economics emerged as the champions, outmaneuvering HUMSS, who took first runner-up, and ABM, who settled for second runner-up.
ICT dominated the Men’s division in table tennis, outpacing ABM, who secured the first runner-up position, with consistent smashes and well-placed spins, while HUMSS took the second runner-up spot.
STEM emerged as champions after a contested match against HUMSS, who fought hard and placed as the first-runner-up in the Women's division. ABM rounded out the podium in second runner-up.
The mixed doubles category saw HUMSS clinch the championship with excellent coordination and teamwork. ABM put up a tough fight to finish as the first runner-up, while Home Economics completed the top three as the second runner-up.
ICT soared to victory in the Men’s badminton division with their powerful smashes, securing the championship, while STEM earned first runner-up and GAS-IA took second runner-up after a competitive run.
HUMSS ruled the women’s badminton division, stunning Home Economics to claim the gold medal, while STEM finished as second-runner-up after an exhilarating performance.
In the mixed doubles category, HUMSS extended their dominance, clinching the championship against ABM, who battled for the first runner-up spot, while STEM took second runner-up after a fierce series of matches.
Volleyball action thrilled the crowd as Red's dominance energized the Annex Gymnasium, with the HE strand capturing championships in both the men’s and women’s divisions, and ABM finishing as the first runner-up in both.
THE FIZZ OF WIZ
The Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand dominated the Bible Quiz Bee, securing a back-to-back championship. The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) strand followed closely to grab first place, while the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand took second place, and the Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) strand earned third place.
In the quest to find the most proficient speller, the ICT representatives emerged victorious after a noteworthy performance to claim the championship. The HUMSS strand also secured first place, while STEM grabbed second place, and the combined forces of General Academic Strand and Industrial Arts (GAS-IA) clinched third place.
Brainiacs from the ICT strand displayed their mastery of math, science, and social science, securing the top spot. The Home Economics (HE) strand achieved second place, HUMSS obtained third, and STEM finished in fourth.
Meanwhile, the ICT strand stood victorious once again after a commanding performance in the Declamation Contest, taking home the gold. The HUMSS strand followed closely to claim silver, ABM grabbed bronze, and GAS-IA took fourth place.
In the duel of the best lenses and shutters, photographers from STEM emerged as champions in the Photography Competition. ICT quickly followed to secure first place, HUMSS took second place, and HE finished in third.
Skilled and gifted artists from HE showcased their excellence with the brush and paint, being crowned titleholders for their masterpiece in the Mural Competition. STEM finished with silver, ICT took bronze, and ABM earned fourth place.
STEM also claimed the crown in the Chalk Art Contest, showcasing their unmatched artistry with chalk. Artists from ICT took home first honors, HE claimed second, and HUMSS took third.
