The spotlight shone brightly on Ms. Abish M. Buhain from the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) strand and Mr. Joseph Emmanuel N. Manangan from the Home Economics (HE) strand, as they were crowned champions during the Mr. and Ms. Lyceum Grand Coronation Night 2024, held at the Danilo V. Ayap (DVA) Gymnasium on November 5.
In an interview with The Spiracle, Ms. Abish, a proud representative of the STEM strand, confessed about how her victory in the pageant was not just a product of effortless beauty and grace but also the result of the self-confidence and trust that she worked hard to build overtime.
In addition to the evening’s grand winners, Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) strand representatives Ms. Alyanna Latoreno Claveria and Mr. Eduardo Jhulo CaΓ±eso were awarded first runners-up, while Ms. Jasmine C. Muyco and Mr. Jerbin Lee N. Sierra from the Accountancy, Business and Management (ABM) strand secured the second runners-up positions.
Both crown-bearers dazzled in various categories, including evening gowns, casual wear and enchanted-themed attire. Each contestant shone brightly, showcasing creative costumes and confidence. Beyond their visual appeal, they demonstrated wit and composure during the Q&A segment.
“Before I even joined the pageant, I really had doubts,” Abish admitted as she reflected on her journey towards the crown.
“But the day before the event, I decided that it would be a waste if I gave up. So during the pageant, I gave my best, but I still didn’t feel complacent,” she added.
The undeniable grace, intelligence, exceptional performance, and confident presence that Abish showed all throughout every portion of the pageant made her secure multiple special awards and accomplishments, which include: Best in Production Number, Best in Casual Wear, Best in Formal Wear, Best in Production Outfit, Best in Enchanted Costume, Ms. LOA Silka, and Ms. Hairess & Salon.
On the other hand, Mr. Joseph Emmanuel Manangan, the representative of the HE strand, also reflected on his hard-earned victory with both pride and delight. He mentioned that despite the fierce competition, he expected for a little while that he would win as he thinks that his answer in the Q&A segment of the pageant made him stand out from the rest of the candidates.
“I feel so happy, and I feel that I deserve this because my answer is really good,” Manangan proudly shared.
Despite the positive answers that Manangan gave in the interview, he also revealed that he faced several challenges while aiming for the crown.
Manangan’s awe-inspiring resilience and perseverance earned him the ultimate title of the night, along with the Mr. LOA Silka award.
