Manila hosted a thrilling Pokémon Run on February 9, at SM Mall of Asia, where thousands of enthusiasts gathered for a fun-filled event that blended physical activity, social interaction, and nostalgia for a Pokémon fun day.
This run featured various Pokémon-themed elements, including costumes, decorations, and challenges, allowing participants to immerse themselves in Pokémon's vibrant world.
Runners of all levels joined in, with 3K, 5K, and 10K courses available to accommodate everyone's pace and passion for Pokémon, and proceeds from the event went to a local charity, supporting children's education and development initiatives.
According to Susumu Fukunaga, The Pokémon Company Asia Business Development Corporate Officer, “Already had Pokémon in other regions, such as Asia. Incidentally, last year, I was able to talk to June, and I had organized the campaign. 𝘙𝘭𝘭𝘭. I had to find a partner that is very used to running events.”
Coach Rio Dela Cruz, President and CEO of Runrio Inc., expressed his delight and enthusiasm over the tremendous response and support received for "The Pokémon Run."
"In the first 15 minutes, the first day of the opening of our registration, it was sold out. When we reopened it, it was sold out again,” Dela Cruz said.
The Pokémon Fun Day took place at SM North Edsa until February 13, providing an opportunity for fans to participate in the event.
The event marked the beginning of a nationwide tour, which visited various SM branches across the country, including Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Iloilo, and Davao, until October last year.
Fans were encouraged to mark their calendars and take part in the festivities, which promised to be an exciting experience for Pokémon enthusiasts of all ages.
