Bassist Joric Canlas announced his departure from the indie band The Ridleys on March 3, to pursue personal dreams, as tackled in a 25-minute vlog shared by the band.
Canlas reflected on his nine-year journey with the band, expressing gratitude and optimism for their future.
"Thank you for the long nine years. Actually, it wasn't too long. It was really quick. But The Ridleys? This is just the start," he stated.
He also emphasized that his departure doesn't mark an end to the band, saying, "And it doesn't end with me leaving. Not at all."
The Ridleys remaining members—lead singer Benny Manaligod, lead guitarist Jan De Vera, and drummer Bryant Ayes, acknowledged Canlas remarkable contributions.
"He will always, always be a part of The Ridleys story," remarked the band.
To honor Canlas tenure, the band is organizing a farewell concert, with details to be announced on their social media platforms.
Prior to the announcement, the band celebrated their ninth anniversary with sold-out concerts at the Music Museum and released their latest album, All These and More, featuring the hit single Be With You.
During Post-departure, Canlas remains active in the music scene as a member of Over October. The band recently shared updates from their recording sessions at Open Heaven Recording Studio in Baguio.
Fans are looking forward to new projects from both The Ridleys and Canlas. While the band continues their musical journey, Canlas is set to explore new opportunities, promising an exciting future for all.
