Subject: Our silent battles no one sees, that we do our best to hide

Late, I'm late, I'm running out of time!

Even the clock is late, it mirrors my mind.

Like a game of tag, neither one could reach the other,

I immersed myself in papers, more than my sheets and covers.

Dark, it's dark, caffeine held my body upright!

Like shards of glass in my throat, from sleepless nights.

The monster didn't hide, it lived beneath my eyes,

For rest, like sanity, never lasted hours.

Smile, endure it, don't let it show!

I smile at everyone's success, I'm reminded of my own.

Reaching the finish line, without caring if I won,

So focused on completing, it meant no celebration.

Again, and again, it has no means of an end!

They're about to show the grades, I am at my wits' end.

I gave my blood for this, but found no satisfaction,

For even steel can rust, if bent with no reaction.
