President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants any new impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte to undergo the same level of thoroughness as the investigation into anomalous flood control projects, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Monday, January 12.

Castro explained that PBBM made the remark during a conversation with her last week, when she asked him about the issue.

“Kung ano po ang pagtrato sa pag-iimbestiga sa flood control projects, mga anomalyang flood control projects, ganoon din po ang gawing pagtrato sa paggagawa o sa pag-iimbestiga patungkol dito sa impeachment complaint laban kay VP Sara,” Castro stated during a press briefing.

Furthermore, PBBM stressed that any complaint should be carefully examined.

Castro added that the President believes accountability should apply to anyone found liable, regardless of position.

Moreover, PBBM also emphasized that all investigations must follow due process and be free from political bias, stressing that accountability should apply equally to all officials regardless of position.

He noted that the government’s priority is to ensure transparency and fairness in handling both the flood control anomalies and the impeachment complaints filed against the Vice President.
