The wait is over.
Ateneo de Manila University’s high school boys’ basketball team finally ended a 7-year losing streak against Far Eastern University - Diliman (FEU-D), soaring to a 90-71 victory at the UAAP Season 88 clash on Wednesday, January 14.
FEU-D tried to dictate the pace early, but Ateneo’s precise passing, relentless defense, and fast-paced offense allowed them to seize control by halftime and maintain their lead until the final buzzer.
Jude Eriobu led the charge for Ateneo, recording 22 points, 14 rebounds, five blocks, and four steals, proving why he is the cornerstone of Ateneo’s championship ambitions.
“𝘐 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘪𝘨𝘨𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘦𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘪𝘵'𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘢 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘨𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦,” the Ateneo lifer said, reflecting the team’s focus and hunger for victory.
The win not only ended Ateneo’s long-standing losing streak against FEU-D but also gave the team an early 2-0 record in the tournament, signaling their strong start in the UAAP high school division.
The victory sent a clear message to the rest of the league that Ateneo is ready to compete at a high level, blending veteran savvy with youthful energy to challenge any contender for a Final Four spot.
With momentum on their side, Ateneo will aim to maintain their winning rhythm and sharpen their attack in upcoming games, building on this historic triumph over FEU-D.
