LITERARY: "Curve In" by: Dane Navarro

 "Curve In"

By: Dane Navarro

For once, we were twin flames—

Two souls united in one heart.

A match made in heaven-cause,

We were perfectly made for each other;

For I was your poet, and you were my poetry.

Neither of us deserved any misery—

That's why I chose to set you free.

I ran out of reasons to stay,

That's why I chose to go away.

And I left for my own sake,

To prevent myself from another heartache.

Time had flown, but blasts from the past still remain.

One day, three autumns;

Still carrying the torch,

Yet the ship has sailed.

If I could just turn back the hands of time,

I'd choose to be the writer of our love story—

While you, the artist, could make it fancy.

Let bygones be bygones—

I'm hoping against hope.

I was on my wits' end—

Grasping at straws to win you again.

Had I really prevented myself from another heartache?

Or I have made to another mistake?
