Last Friday, swimmer Ariel Joseph Alegarbes clinched the country's first gold medal in 2021 Asian Youth Para Games in Manama, Bahrain.
It's the country's first gold medal since 2013, when the Philippines only received a bronze medal last quadrennial meet's final in Dubai, United Arab Emirates in 2017.
The 17-year-old Negros local clocked in a single minute and 1.96 seconds to finish his golden end at the medal race of the 14th season 100-meter butterfly event.
Japan's Rei Kagose took the silver medal with a time of 1 minute and 2.74 seconds while, Thai Tanker In-Choo fixed for bronze after completing with 1 minute and 6.93 seconds.
Team Philippines consigned 20 athletes throughout six sports activities at the 2021 Asian Youth Para Games until December 6.
