According to a government health
adviser, the number of COVID-19 cases may rise again after the May 9, 2022
election or in the coming months. As long as Filipinos continue to ignore
health precautions, the number of recorded cases of the Omicron variant may be
exceeded.
Because of the unsafe social
gatherings of Filipinos that happened and will happen, this could cause a surge
in COVID-19 cases.
The chief of the infectious diseases
and tropical medicine unit at government-run San Lazaro Hospital in Manila, Dr.
Rontgene Solante, said that it’s really possible for us to have rising cases of
COVID 19, especially after the election.
Dr. Solante added, "Pwedeng
magkahawaan ulit yung mga nabakunahan na na hindi pa naka-booster, pwedeng
mayroong reinfection,"
Meanwhile, he stated that the
government must expand its national vaccination days and make it a regular
activity because, through this, they can visit more places and people to get
vaccinated.
