Netizens fried Potato Corner in hot oil for its “beauty queen and discriminatory” standards for service crew applicants.

The now-deleted controversial job posting of the food franchise's Ventura Mall branch included “good impact and pleasing personality,” “weight... proportionate to height,” and “good complexion... and good set of teeth,” among others.

This prompted Filipino social media users to ridicule the job posting, comparing it to a beauty pageant candidate search.

One Facebook user posts Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray's interview edited over the snack's stall image as the background captioned, “Why should you be the next Potato Corner 𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘢?”

Vlogger Christian Antolin also made a parody as “Catriona Gay”, a reference to Miss Universe Catriona, having a job interview with a beauty pageant Q&A setting.

Amidst serving laughter, the job posting was also scrutinized for its “discriminatory” criteria.

“It's all fun and games until you realize the undertone of discrimination that continues to riddle our society,” media company We the Pvblic penned in its report about the issue.

“*** Potato Corner?!? 𝘏𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘱-𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘨 discrimination,” Facebook user Tristan Louis Sicat wrote. “350/day more or less 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘥𝘢𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘢𝘩𝘰𝘥 𝘵𝘢𝘱𝘰𝘴... good set of teeth?!?”

“𝘈𝘣𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘥𝘰!” the user added.

Potato Corner immediately issued an apology, saying the company does not support discriminatory hiring.

“Our values are all about diversity and inclusion, and true to the experience that we offer, we believe in celebrating uniqueness that each individual brings,” the statement read.

The company also said it's taking the matter seriously and taking actions to review its procedure.

“It may have been amusing for some, but we in fact are taking this seriously. We deeply regret the incident and we're reviewing our procedures, teaming up with our valued business partners, franchisees and suppliers to make sure that situations like this won't happen again,” the company said.

“So that whatever we say and do at Potato Corner reflects our values,” it added.

Potato Corner reiterated its commitment in “fostering an environment and society where every single person gets a fair chance to contribute and succeed.”
