Various educational departments of Lyceum of Alabang cheered loud and proud as the school officially marked an end to its 20th Founding Anniversary with the theme, “Building a Legacy of Learning: Celebrating 20 Years of Education,” in the Awarding Ceremony held on Wednesday, November 8 at the Danilo V. Ayap (DVA) Gymnasium.
“Honestly, like, we had a lot of fun cheering on for our strand. [Madaming] magagaling na representatives and the overall Foundation Week was a blast,” one of the students quoted in an interview with The Spiracle, “We enjoyed the time we spent naman sa school during the Foundation Week. [We are] hoping na mag-continue s’ya for the next year.”
During the foundation week, different cultural and non-cultural competitions spanning from academic and performance contests, as well as various sports events were spectated and supported by students among departments.
Cultural competitions such as Dance Sports, Hip-Hop Dance Competition, Singing, Quiz Bees, Declamation, Painting were held during the first few days of the week, spanning from the first to third day.
Information and Communications Technology (ICT) were held as champions in the DanceSport competition, followed by Humanities and Social Sciences (HUMSS) in first place and Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) in second place.
In the groovy Hip-Hop contest, Home Economics (HE) took the title of champion, with ABM placing first and the General Academic Strand and Industrial Arts (GAS-IA) accomplishing second place.
Vocals clashed in the Singing competition as HE secured the gold medal, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) achieved first place and ICT came in second.
In the vibrant painting competition, STEM emerged victorious as champions, while ABM and HUMSS shared first place and ICT ranked in second.
STEM bagged the championship with their act in the Declamation contest, followed by ABM in first place and ICT in second place.
ABM succeeded as champions in the Social Sciences Quiz Bee, while HE came in the spot for first place and STEM in second place. The Bible Quiz Bee was won by champions from HUMSS, whereas ICT took first place and ABM finished second.
The Science Quiz Bee championship was taken by STEM, followed by ABM in first place and ICT in second. ABM became champions in the Math Quiz Bee, with STEM securing the placement for first and ICT in second.
In the Spelling Bee, GAS-IA took home the championship, HUMMS won first place and ABM placed second.
Meanwhile, the very much anticipated sports events, Volleyball and Basketball games started on Day 0, October 21, where eliminations were held. Afterwards, the games were continued on Day 2, where the preceding winners advanced to the next round. Other sports games such as Badminton and Table Tennis were also competed by various SHS representatives.
STEM dominated the championship along with HUMSS who emerged at first place in the Men’s and Women’s division of Volleyball, whereas HE and ABM finished in second place.
Champions HE came out on top in the ball game sport of Basketball, followed by STEM accomplishing silver and ABM took home the bronze medal.
HUMSS triumphed in the Male’s Badminton Singles championship, with ICT placed in first and STEM came in second place. The Women’s Singles championship was bagged by the players of HE, while HUMSS placed first and STEM took second place.
ABM took the championship in Badminton Men’s Doubles, while HE secured first place and GAS-IA finished in second. In the Women’s Doubles, HE held the title of champion, followed by ABM that accomplished first place and STEM took the second ranking.
In the matches of Male’s Singles of Table Tennis, HUMSS prevailed in the championship, followed by silver medalist from STEM and ICT that claimed bronze. HE dominated the Women’s Singles championship, whereas HUMSS won silver medal and STEM accomplished bronze.
The Table Tennis Men's Doubles championship was overtaken by STEM, while ABM took the spot for first place and HUMSS finished in second. Champions HUMSS became victorious in the Women’s Doubles division, with STEM finishing in first place and ABM coming in second.
On the other hand, the grandest and most-awaited Coronation Night for Mr. and Mrs. Lycean 2023 was held on the last day of Foundation Week, where students from SHS and college departments gathered to cheer for their very own representatives.
In conclusion of the Coronation Night, ABM held the back-to-back title of Mr. and Mrs. Lyceum, followed by first runners-up from GAS-IA and HUMSS and second runners-up that represented STEM and ICT. Various strand participants were also given special awards.
Closing the events of the 20th Foundation Anniversary, participants from different strands in each category received their awards on stage at the DVA Gymnasium.
