Fans of the popular volleyball anime series "Haikyu!!" can rejoice as the movie sequel, "Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle" will arrive in Southeast Asia (SEA) this May.
The film premiered in Japan on February 16th and has already opened in Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan in April. Southeast Asian audiences in the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and India will get to see the movie starting in May.
"Haikyu!! The Dumpster Battle" picks up where the fourth season of the TV series left off. It will depict the much-anticipated match between the Karasuno High School volleyball team and their fierce rivals, Nekoma High.
The movie will also uncover the story of Fukurodani and explore the character arc of Fukurodani's vice-captain, Kotaro Bokuto.
The movie is directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, who also helmed the anime series, with Mariko Ishikawa serving as assistant director.
"Haikyu!!" first captured audiences in Japan and around the world with its inspiring story of Shoyo Hinata, a determined young man aiming to become a volleyball star despite his short stature. The original manga series began in 2012, followed swiftly by a TV anime adaptation in 2014. Since then, the franchise has spawned four seasons and several film adaptations
