NEWS: "Metro Manila Under GCQ With Alert Level 4" by Anya Sotomayor

Metro Manila will be placed under Generalized Community Quarantine (GCQ) beginning on Thursday, September 16.  However, this time it will be under the second most elevated alert level. It is the new version of the GCQ that has alert levels 1 to 5. Furthermore, we will be under Alert Level 4.

Those who are fully vaccinated will have perks. Some businesses will be allowed to reopen and resume their operations. Also, the restrictions will be significantly more different from the GCQ that we already know.

Under Alert Level 4, minors, senior citizens aged 65 and above, persons with comorbidities, and pregnant women are not allowed to leave their homes. Only except if they will purchase essential goods and are working in permitted industries.

Indoor guest or vacation spots, indoor relaxation communities, exercise centers, recreational venues, gaming establishments, mass social events, gatherings, and staycations will be prohibited.

Only 30% of the outdoor seating capacities of these establishments' outdoor dine-in services, barbershops, hair spas, nail spas, beauty salons, and physical religious gatherings are only allowed to operate regardless of the vaccination status.

They are also allowed to operate indoors up to a 10% limit. However, employees and clients should be completely vaccinated against COVID-19. They need to present their vaccination cards to enter the establishments.

Necrological services are limited to close relatives only for those who died from causes other than COVID-19 with full compliance with the minimum health protocols.

Government agencies and instrumentalities must remain in full operation in these areas. They must follow an on-site working capacity of at least 20% backed with work-from-home arrangements.

Individual outdoor exercises are allowed for all ages but shall be limited within the area of residence only.

Interzonal and intrazonal travel are also allowed for individuals who do not need to stay at home.
